This past spring semester I took a class under the incredible Justin Plakas. I’m not going to lie, it was one of the most challenging classes I’ve taken at UGA. This is because it was heavily based in Photoshop. You know what? Before this class, I sucked at photoshop. Really, barely color correcting an image was the best I could do. After an entire semester of struggling, I think I became a lot more familiar with the program. I learned how to think about what I want my images to look like, instead of thinking of what I want and then changing my idea to fit the parameters of my knowledge in photoshop. Basically, I learned to not limit myself because I don’t know how to do something, but to ASK for HELP. What a concept…
Anyway, this series of images is about your ecological footprint. The order in which they are posted, is the order in which I worked on them, therefore as my idea progressed, so did my images. Few places in the world go untouched by humankind. We alter the environment with little to no thoughts on the effect, I created a body of images that comments on those interactions. By confining to the spaces that we live in, we have chosen to limit the beauty that nature provides, and therefore turned our eyes to life.
